How wonderful! Where are you planning to go? If you plan to visit the Dingle Peninsula and Dingle Town (which I highly recommend), it might be fun to get together for a cup of tea. I have a website that I started before my Substack that just focuses on Ireland and gives some practical tips, too. If you'd like to see it, check out https://nourishingireland.com/
Thank you! We’re posted up near Limerick and planning to do a hub-and-spoke driving approach for exploring the area. Dingle is absolutely on our list - would love to meet up for a cup of tea when we make it out that way. And thank you for the site rec - heading there now for tips!
You're right, Jeanine! This really is a walker's paradise, and it attracts walkers and hikers from all over the world. (And thank you for sharing the post to Notes.)
Yes. I did my family tree years ago. All came to Canada during the famine, 1846 & 1847. My father’s Catholic branches came from County Clare - Moyarta, near the mouth of the River Shannon, and from Kilkenny - Freshford. My mother’s Anglo Irish people came from Castleblakeny, Galway. This branch was far better off than the Catholics. Some I’ve forgotten…..
Ontario Canada gave 100 acres of land to settlers who cleared and farmed the land. Over time, the Irish in Ontario became successful and educated. They seemed to fare better than the unfortunate Irish in American cities such as Boston.
It is a serene and beautiful country where you live. The people are wonderful too. 😘
I’m so glad to have found you! We’re in Ireland now for a month’s exploration… I look forward to reading all of your posts to help guide us.

Thank you, Janice.
From forest path, ancient stones, the Meadow Walk, to rollicky pub and all in between. What a glorious walkers' paradise you live in, Clairce.

Very interesting! This inspires me to revisit Ireland, home of my ancestors.
Thank you, Catherine Ann. Do you know where in Ireland that ancestors came from?
