I’m struggling to even imagine this as the same world in which I live in now. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for your comment, Ziri. The world really has changed tremendously in the last 45 years, much of it for the better. Unfortunately this is not true for the Afghan people, who are forbidden (on pain of death) to make music, fly kites, or have any other simple joys in life. And the women are now forbidden to speak in public.

There are a few ideas... but there was an experience camping on an exposed mountain top in a lightning storm which might be a bit of fun to write about.

Very welcome. Have you read The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul? Fiction, and wonderful.

By the way, I love Mexico, too, and came very close once to living there permanently. So I am enjoying your stories very much.

More than bravery, perhaps, think of the first card in the Rider Waite tarot cards: The Fool. Do you know it? A young man has a pack on his back, a smile on his face, and is heading out on a journey. Unfortunately, one foot is just about ready to step into an abyss. But the smile is still on his face, trusting that all will be well in the end!
