Thanks for the lovely walk. I needed it to clear some of the world's ugliness out of my head.

Thank you, Michael. That is one thing I am trying to do with my posts--write about positive, life-affirming places and events. There is already so much ugliness right now that I don't want to add to it in my posts.

Clarice, I found Braiding Sweetgrass about a year ago and found it amazing! (For one thing that it’d been written ages earlier.) I’ve written a harvest story about it connecting her principles of the 3 to the Maya mantra I’ll post mid November. Oddly or not, another writer friend discovered her about 6 months ago. Your walk sounded exquisite. Enjoy Halloween and the fall!!!

I only discovered the book recently, too, and it is beautiful and inspiring. I am really looking forward to how you blend her principles with Maya teachings! (Did you know that the Irish claim to have originated Halloween?)

Oh, I love that!! Is that Samhain? I’d seen it named in posts and didn’t know the origin. My post is titled’The 3 Sisters, the Milpa and the Genius of Indigenous Agriculture.’ For it truly is! I like our synchronicity of stumbling onto to Sweetgrass.

Yes, it is Samhain. (Which is pronounced SOWun!)

What a fun day, I'm just glad you made it inside before the deluge. Did your guide share any ideas about what plants were good to eat? Wild greens can be delicious!

He didn't talk about greens, unfortunately. But he did point out several plants with healing properties--including hawthorn and St. Johns wort.

Lovey post! I’ll be in Ireland (mostly in Dublin) in a couple of weeks. I’ve read Dublin’s been dubbed “a walker’s city” so I’m very much looking forward to meandering there and wherever I find myself. 😊

Thank you, Justin. Dublin is fun to explore for a couple of days, but if you can get out into the smaller villages and the countryside as well, it would be even better!

And thank you for the restack!

Being an archaeologist, I have to see Newgrange so I’ll be out that day but I certainly want to get into the countryside as well. The Wicklow Mountains have caught my eye so I might head there as well.
